A Scripturistical and Cultural Perspective on War; Saint Gregory Palamas and contemporary patristic view on conflicts in the plan of the unseen war

Abstract

In a large number of cases the conflicts that have arisen in recent years in various parts of the world, with their diversity, rapid development and their disastrous consequences for man and human society in general have led to the conclusion that a more careful and precise perspective on the conflict as a whole, is needed, an interdisciplinary research of the variety of causes, effects, and possible solutions that can be found in such cases, and that can prove to be really effective.
The general target of this work constitutes a possible beginning of that type of research. It is an attempt to understand and highlight, from a cultural and spiritual point of view, the causes of conflicts, the various consequences of their emergence and maintaining, as well as the possible solutions that Orthodox tradition and spirituality, including, of course, the evangelical message, as well as the patristic sources, have offered over the ages in order to overcome the conflict on a personal level, as well as on a general, social level.
