John C. Hirsh is Professor of English and American Literature, and of Global Medieval Studies, at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. He has worked for thirty-three years directing an urban education program in which Georgetown undergraduate students tutor young learners in the language arts, learning much themselves in the process. His latest book, forthcoming, describing and considering that program is: Inventing Education: Georgetown Students and D.C. Youth Learn from Each Other.
