Submission Requirements
The MEΘEXIS Journal of Research in Values and Spirituality is a double peer-reviewed, open access, bi-annual published, printed, and online. The journal aims to bring the best in academic research on values and spirituality to scholarly or interested public audience. We consider original articles between 4.000 and 10,000 words in length. The MEΘEXIS Journal is open to considering longer manuscripts of exceptional quality, with the editor’s permission. The journal only considers submissions that are not published elsewhere and not currently under consideration at another journal. We aim to reach decisions on submissions in 2-3 months. The MEΘEXIS Journal is double-anonymous peer-reviewed. The review process of a research paper starts with the ‘Internal Review’ process. The external review process begins after the editor assigns the paper to the outside reviewers.
Anonymous peer-reviewed
Papers are refereed by two anonymous reviewers. The refereeing period is 2-3 months. Authors will be notified by email if their text is accepted for publication, recommended for revision, or rejected. No processing or publication fees are required. Submitted manuscripts must be prepared for anonymous review. This means that the author’s name and other identifying information must be removed from the text and replaced with “deleted for anonymous review”.
Submission Format
Manuscripts should be submitted in Word format (.doc, .docx). Submissions must contain an abstract (up to 250 words), followed by 4 to 8 keywords, footnotes and references. Use a normal font, 11- font size, Century Schoolbook for text, and 10- font size, Century Schoolbook for abstract, keywords, and footnotes.
Manuscripts should be formatted according to Chicago Style (https://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org/tools_citationguide/citation-guide-1.html).
Author information:
- The name(s) of the author(s)
- The affiliation(s) of the author(s), i.e. institution, (department), city, (state), country
- An active institutional e-mail address of the corresponding author
Prior to publication the author may be asked to provide original source files for any charts or graphs in the manuscript. Authors should avoid the use of charts or graphs copied from online sources, as these may not be suitable for reproduction in print format. Only contributions in English are accepted.
The insertion of figures, tables, graphs and images in your manuscript will be done taking into account the following:
Figure and table guidelines
All figures, tables, and images will be published under a Creative Commons CC-BY license, and permission must be obtained for use of copyrighted material from other sources (including republished/adapted/modified/partial figures and images from the internet). It is the responsibility of the authors to acquire the licenses, follow any citation instructions requested by third-party rights holders, and cover any supplementary charges.
Figure requirements and style guidelines
Frontiers requires figures to be submitted individually, in the same order as they are referred to in the manuscript; the figures will then be automatically embedded at the end of the submitted manuscript. Ensure that each figure is mentioned in the text and in numerical order.
For figures with more than one panel, panels should be clearly indicated using labels (A), (B), (C), (D), etc. For graphs, there must be a self-explanatory label (including units) along each axis.
Captions should be preceded by the appropriate label, for example ‘Figure 1.’ Figure captions should be placed at the end of the manuscript. Figure panels are referred to by bold capital letters in brackets: (A), (B), (C), (D), etc.
Image size and resolution requirements
Figures should be prepared with the PDF layout in mind. Individual figures should not be longer than one page and with a width that corresponds to 1 column.
All images must have a resolution of 300 dpi at final size. Check the resolution of your figure by enlarging it to 150%. If the image appears blurry, jagged, or has a stair-stepped effect, the resolution is too low.
The text should be legible and of high quality. The smallest visible text should be no less than eight points in height when viewed at actual size.
Table requirements and style guidelines
Tables should be inserted at the end of the manuscript in an editable format. An empty line should be left before and after the table.
Table captions must be placed immediately before the table. Captions should be preceded by the appropriate label, for example ‘Table 1.’ Please use only a single paragraph for the caption.
Manuscripts may be sent as email attachments to methexis.researchjournal@gmail.com

As a condition of publication in MEΘEXIS Journal, authors must complete a publication agreement that gives the journal permission to publish and preserve the author’s work.

The journal’s Open Access Archiving Policy applies to articles published with this agreement. No payment is required for submission or publication.

Publication Ethics Statement
The editorial team of the MEΘEXIS Journal of Research in Values and Spirituality is committed to ensuring the integrity of the publication process. Conformance to standards of ethical behavior is therefore expected of all parties involved: Authors, Editors, Reviewers, and the Publisher.
Authors should present an objective discussion of the significance of research work as well as sufficient detail and references to permit others to confirm a chain of reasoning or experimental result. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behavior and are unacceptable. Review articles should also be objective, comprehensive, and accurate accounts of the state of the art. The authors should ensure that their work is entirely original works, and if the work and/or words of others have been used, this has been appropriately acknowledged. Plagiarism in all its forms constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable. Authors should not submit articles describing essentially the same research to more than one journal. The corresponding author should ensure that there is a full consensus of all co-authors in approving the final version of the paper and its submission for publication.
Editors should evaluate manuscripts exclusively on the basis of their academic merit. An editor must not use unpublished information in the editor’s own research without the express written consent of the author. Editors should take reasonable responsive measures when ethical complaints have been presented concerning a submitted manuscript or published paper.
Reviewers must treat received manuscripts as confidential documents. Privileged information or ideas obtained through peer review must be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage. Reviews should be conducted objectively, and observations should be formulated clearly with supporting arguments, so that authors can use them for improving the paper. Any selected referee who feels unqualified to review the research reported in a manuscript or knows that its prompt review will be impossible should notify the editor and excuse himself from the review process. Reviewers should not consider manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors or institutions connected to the paper.
The Publisher will respond to alleged or proven cases of research misconduct, fraudulent publication, or plagiarism in close collaboration with the editors. The publisher will ensure that appropriate measures are taken to clarify the situation and to amend the article in question if necessary. This may include the publication of an erratum, clarification or, in the most severe case, the retraction of the affected work. The publisher, together with the editors, shall take reasonable steps to identify and prevent publication of papers where research misconduct has occurred, and under no circumstances encourage such misconduct or knowingly allow such misconduct to take place.
